I am saddened today as I read in the newspaper of Anne's death. My first memory of her is simply a name as the editor of the Council of Garden Club's newsletter, the TAPROOT. Having recently retired from a Fortune 500 Company and having moving to Virginia Beach, I was impressed with the quality and professionalism of the newsletter and I remember telling Anne about that. As I came to know her more on a personal level, I grew to love her. When she was leaving her post as president of the Council of Garden Clubs of Virginia Beach, she surprised me with a certificate of appreciation, thanking me for supporting her through her term as president. Through the short time I knew her, she was always thinking of how she could boost another person's self esteem. She certainly did that for me. It makes me sad when people such as Anne have to leave us but my faith tells me Anne wants us to rejoice; that she is very happy and very much at peace.
