My thoughts and sympathies are with you at this time. I was a friend of Roger's and knew Dr. Kaplan from Beth El and I was proud to know the family. My wife, Diane (Sutton), and I send our love to the entire family.

Once in many years, a man such as Arthur Kaplan made his presence known to many people. He truly did what we can only hope for and that is to make a difference in the world we live in. Yes, there have been many prominent men in our community but they stand in his long shadow because he touched so many.Having served for two years on the Norfok Community Services Board where he truly became my friend. I am saddened by his passing and the void will be hard for our community to fill.He is one man I am honored to have known. My sincere condolences to his family. What a loss but God's gain.

When I joined Consultants in Internal Medicine as a young physician in 1983, I know my entire group greatly respected and admired Arthur. In deed, he was one of my early role models of what a proper Norfolk internist should be. His warmth, humor, and wisdom will be sorely missed. I feel blessed to have counted him as a friend and colleague.

I came to know Dr. Kaplan at the tender age of 8 years old when he came to our home to attend to my sick father. As I grew up and my father had passed away Dr Kaplan was not only our family physician and friend he offered and guided me with sound fatherly advice. He was our first customer in our heating and air conditioning business, and offered so much encouragement. I will never forget him. Bless him for the many things he accomplished and most of all his friendship, and his beautiful orchids

I had the priviledge of spending a few hours each week with Arthur at his orchic conservatory. He always greeted me with a big smile and pure excitement, wanting to show me which plant had just come into bloom. Then I was treated to a detailed explanation of the history or other characteristics of the species. Arthur was a species unto himself. I treasure the time I had with him, his stories and generosity. Like countless others, I will miss him terribly. His spirit was so big that I really believed he would live forever. In his own way, he will. My sincerest condolences to his family and closest friends.
