Virginia Beach - Annabelle (Anne) G. Herrick is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated with honors from Saint John School of Nursing in Cleveland and began her career in nursing at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. She continued that career until her first son was born at which time she became a full time stay-at-home mom. Once her two sons were of high school age she resumed her nursing career as one of two nurses who activated the Southern Virginia Medical Program for the Aged, a federally funded program managed by the Virginia Beach Health Department and continued in that position until her retirement. She was beloved by her many patients for the always kind and generous professional care she provided them. Garden Clubbing was her first love. She was a member of the King's Grant Garden Club of Virginia Beach for 44 years, serving as President for 4 terms. Anne was a member of the Council of Garden Clubs of Virginia Beach, Inc. and served as its President for 2 years. She also served on the Board of the Tidewater District, Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc.
She is survived by her loving husband Carl, of 56 years, two sons, Captain Craig Herrick, U. S. Navy and his wonderful wife Susan, Dr. Steve Herrick and his wonderful wife Jen, three grandchildren, Grace, Jack and Cam, and two sisters, Winifred and Gail.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Friday, July 2, 2010 at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad. Online condolences may be sent to the family at hdoliver.com.
