Elsie Bailey Chaplain
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.-Elsie Bailey Chaplain the Matriarch of the Chaplain Family and wife of the late Russell Wilson Chaplain, Sr. Pioneers of the Virginia Beach Tourist Industry passed away February 2, 2010 with her loving family by her side.
Elsie was born September 7, 1923 in Norfolk to the late Gordon Charles Bailey and Lucy May Duke.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Suzanne Chaplain Goldsticker; Kay Chaplain Williams and her husband, Frank; Russell Wilson Chaplain, Jr. and his wife, Catherine; Judy Chaplain Houska and her husband, Joseph; Linda Gale Chaplain; William Gerald Chaplain; Claire Chaplain Powell and her husband George; and preceded in death by a loving daughter Janina Chaplain Williams; 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to Vonnie and Evelyn for their devotion and loving care.
Remembrance to Elsie's life will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 2:00 PM at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel by the Reverend Robert Pittman. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in London Bridge Baptist Church Cemetery. www.hdoliver.com
