NORFOLK - Norma Sadler Alley, 86, passed away January 30, 2010. She was born in Portsmouth, VA to Roland and Edith Sadler and grew up on the beaches of Ocean View.
Norma was proud to be in the first graduating class of Granby High School. She was a charter member of the Meadowbrook Forest Garden Club and a contributor to the Ocean View Station Museum. She was an active member of the CHKD Daisy Chain II circle. Her love for local and family history made her a respected genealogy resource for young and old. She had many close friends through her Wednesday Bridge Group and her Mallwalking Book Club. For many years she was an active member of McKendree Methodist Church.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 47 years, Alfred Jackson "Jack" Alley, her sister Margaret Sadler Winslow, and her brother, Norris Sadler. She is survived by her two daughters, Edith W. Alley and Judy L. Alley of Norfolk, and loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. She will be greatly missed by a host of close friends to include Ms. Bobbi Rivero and the extended family of Dale and Diane White.
A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2010 in the Norfolk Chapel of H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 1501 Colonial Ave., Norfolk, VA. The family will receive friends in the chapel one hour prior to the service. The burial will be private.
